Sumu Tariq is best known for her efforts to fight for the rights of Children, Persons with Special Needs and Women. Her parents have had a major impact on her life; her father instilled a strong social conscience, while her mother taught her to be patient and loving to all. After completing her Aalimiat and Fazilat from Jameatus Salehat, a reputed institute for girls in Northern India she was fortunate enough to get admission in M.A. in Arabic in AMU. But she realised that she was more interested in Special Education which was her passion as she aimed to bring about the change in the lives of all the Children and she had seen around her that the kids with Special Needs face discrimination against their non-disabled peers. She left masters and took admission in a Diploma Course in Special Education. While others regarded it unwise to prefer a diploma over masters, her parents supported her in making this decision.
Sumu completed her course with distinction and started getting very good offers from all over Delhi but denied them except offering periodic voluntary help to some organisations as she wanted to work for the children of her home town which is situated in interior areas. She also denied an offer from U.S. during this period.
In 2004, she played a crucial role in establishing the very first Special School in her home town. She also formed the first ever team in Uttar Pradesh in Asia Pacific International Cricket Tournament in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
She was also appointed as the youngest HOD for the same tournament at the age of 20.
While running and supervising her school, she also worked as freelancer Special Educator; Counsellor and Curriculum Development Officer for a reputed organisation.
She denied many prestigious job offers from within the country and abroad for serving the people of her home town.
She never turned back and won other degrees including FCECLD and B.Ed in Special Education. In the meanwhile she also did her Masters in Theology.
She continued looking after her school even after her marriage. Her husband also supported her in doing so. She started exploring schools for her child and changed many schools but was not being satisfied with any school. Then she with her husband decided to start a normal school for the kids where children loved to come.
She also works for other social causes especially interfaith understanding and upliftment of women and poor people in the community. She is well known in her circle and is a beacon of hope for many.

Allama Syed Abdullah Tariq’s knowledge and wisdom is backed by logic and science. A favorite amongst people, he has a following that extends beyond demographics. His work expands across the territorial boundaries of Islam. People from all walks of life -business persons, students, professionals, religious experts and others attend his annual events all over India. These events have facilities to encourage women to attend and are specially designed for students to understand better. He travels all across the nation upon being invited by individuals and popular organizations to deliver talks and sermons. In his effort to reach out to the youth and common masses, he was also a contributor in The Islamic Voice- a monthly magazine published and released in Bangalore. His work involved answering innumerable doubts and queries that the readers had.His busy intercity schedule, however, did not allow him to continue for long. It could be said that managing a knowledge-committed lifestyle has always kept him on his toes.
Allama Abdullah Tariq has also acted as a guest faculty member for 15 years in Indian Institute of Management - Ahmedabad - one of India’s most prestigious business schools. Entrepreneurship was the focus of his teaching in which he inspired and motivated India’s brightest minds. He is adored and respected by organizations and communities of all religions viz a viz Hindu, Muslims and Christianity.
Allama Syed Abdullah Tariq has also penned the book “Yug Parivartan - Islamic Drishtikon” on the insistence of the Gayatri Parivaar. He has also given dawah for Islam and shared knowledge about the Sanathan Dharma with Atal Bihari Vajpayee, India’s former BJP Prime Minister.
The World Organization of Religions and Knowledge (WORK) was established by Allama Syed Abdullah Tariq to encourage the spreading of awareness and peace in the society. In 2007, it became the only Muslim organization to have acquired the permission for setting up a stall in the Kumbh Mela in Allahabad, UP.
Allama Syed Abdullah Tariq and his team have had the opportunity to set up a stall at Ramayana Mela in Chitrakoot every year. Again, WORK is the only Muslim association to have been a part of one of the major gatherings of Hinduism. The contributions of Allama Abdullah Tariq have resulted into the Ramayanam Trust, Ayodhya honoring him with the Ram Kinkar Award making him the only Muslim to have been conferred with this award. In Addition, he shoulders responsibilities as the Secretary of Sarva Dharma Ekta Manch, the Secretary of East West Educational and Cultural Society; the Secretary and Trustee of Forum for Religious Understanding in Rampur and a renowned Patron of the Veda Qur’an Research Institute in Ahmedabad.

Humera Javed is the Education & Inclusion Coordinator at the Diversity & Equity Office, Wilfred Laurier University in Waterloo, Canada. She is a PhD student studying Curriculum Studies & Teacher Development at OISE (Ontario Institute for Studies in Education), University of Toronto. She is interested in issues of diversity, equity, social justice, religious pluralism, intra and inter-faith dialogue, and how they relate to community-building and education.

Seemi Rafique, Ex Assistant Professor, Department of Petroleum Studies, AMU, Aligarh.
Seemi has 10 years' experience of teaching and research in the capacity of Assistant Professor at the Department of Petroleum Studies, Z.H.College of Engineering &Technology A.M.U. Aligarh.
During her tenure, she was actively engaged in development of improved course framework and syllabi for postgraduate and undergraduate levels of engineering degrees. Along with the B.Tech. core courses, she introduced, developed and taught two new elective courses at the undergraduate level - Natural Gas Engineering and Fuel Technology. Beside teaching Seemi also shouldered the duty of being B.Tech. Program Coordinator of her department. Due to her dedication towards students' learning and welfare, she was given the position of *Students' Counsellor' of the Department as well.
Seemi helped establish state of the art laboratories in the Department of Petroleum Studies and was the incharge of the Petroleum Products Testing Laboratory, which is one of the finest labs in the country for the testing of petroleum products. She also supervised a number of Seminar dissertations at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels along with one M.Tech research dissertation. She has quite a few research publications to her credit.
